We used to own an orange 1972 Type 2 bay window retro VW Camper Van called Thelma.
We took her to work, we took her to the dump, we moved house in her, took the dogs everywhere in her, we laughed in her, cried when she broke down but most of all we loved Thelma to bits! She was so much fun but sadly we had to sell her when we were short of cash - usual sob story.
What fuelled the research into Karma Kampers Ltd, the company behind campinaVDub.co.uk was the fact that we were seeing a lot of really shiny new looking VDubs up and down the motorways with new registration plates. Were they still being made in the UK?
The old company car had clocked up some 150,000 miles and it was time for a change. Why not replace the car with a VW Camper and then use it for holidays? After all, my crawl along the motorway network into the office each day would be ideal for a new VW Camper Van.We went away for a weekend in one to test the new models out and now we have ended up with three shiny new ones to play with - how much fun is that? The sad thing is the old company car will need to keep going for a little while longer.... The sticker in the rear window will say 'my other vehicle is a VDub'.
